2024/04/15 The Experience of Reaching the Top

한국어English日本語

Eleven Table Tennis Championship

I won the Eleven Table Tennis 11K March Tournament. When you reach the very top, you realize how arrogant you had been all along. You realize how you had been showing off with half-baked skills.

If your ability does not match the position you hold, you are bound to live in constant anxiety. And because you can only rise by badmouthing and tearing others down, it is hard to come across as an admirable person.

Instead of being someone who looks good only through comparison, let me become someone who shines on their own. When someone praises me and acknowledges my table tennis skills, it makes me even happier and more motivated.

The Same Goes for Learning Languages

I think the same principle applies when learning languages. It is more motivating when people compliment me as a Korean who speaks Japanese well. However, I must not fall into the delusion of thinking I am good on my own. I need to be objectively good.

Let Me Recall How I Raised My Table Tennis ELO

What are my weaknesses, and where do I fall short? Just as I found opponents who could challenge my limits while learning from skilled players, let me do the same.

Physical Health

Physical health is not optional -- it is essential.
